The treatment

A focused plan for smoother-looking skin

SkinPen uses controlled microneedling to support the skin’s natural renewal process. We begin with your goals and a consultation to decide whether treatment is right for you. Results vary.

Why SkinPen

Your goals, guided by evidence

SkinPen is FDA-cleared to improve the appearance of facial acne scars and, for certain adults, neck wrinkles. Your clinician can explain what that may mean for your skin.

01

Facial acne scars

SkinPen Precision is cleared to improve the appearance of facial acne scars in adults age 22 and older across Fitzpatrick skin types.

02

Neck wrinkles

It is also cleared to improve the appearance of neck wrinkles in adults age 22 and older with Fitzpatrick skin types II–IV.

03

A tailored plan

SkinPen clinical studies used a series of visits. The number of sessions, spacing and expected change should be individualized by the treating clinician.

Before · During · After

Know what a visit may involve

Your clinician will guide you through preparation, treatment and aftercare. The details can vary with your skin and treatment plan.

01

Before

We discuss your goals, health history, medicines and skin condition. The treatment area is cleansed; topical anesthesia may be used for comfort.

02

During

A trained provider passes the device over the selected area. SkinPen treatment commonly takes about 30 minutes, although timing varies.

03

After

You receive individual aftercare guidance and can discuss the next visit. Temporary redness, dryness, tightness or peeling may occur.

Planning for recovery

What to expect afterward

Mild redness can resemble a sunburn and often settles within 24–72 hours, although recovery varies. SkinPen recommends waiting 24 hours before makeup or sunscreen and limiting sun exposure and strenuous exercise during early recovery. Follow your individual aftercare instructions, and contact a clinician about worsening redness, warmth or other concerning symptoms.

Safety first

When treatment may need to wait

Your clinician will review your health history and skin condition, including open or irritated skin, active skin cancer in the treatment area, bleeding disorders, pregnancy or nursing, relevant allergies and current isotretinoin use. A consultation determines whether treatment is appropriate for you.

FAQs

SkinPen questions, answered

What can SkinPen treat?

Its FDA-cleared indications include improving the appearance of facial acne scars in adults 22 and older, and neck wrinkles for adults 22 and older with Fitzpatrick skin types II–IV. A clinician can discuss other concerns without implying they are cleared indications.

Does microneedling hurt?

You may feel light pressure or a mild buzzing sensation. A provider may use topical anesthesia. Comfort varies from person to person.

How long does a visit take?

The SkinPen treatment itself often takes about 30 minutes. Allow additional time for consultation and preparation, and ask us about the expected appointment length when booking.

How much downtime should I plan for?

Redness, dryness, tightness and peeling are possible. Mild redness often improves within 24–72 hours, but recovery varies. Follow your clinician’s aftercare instructions.

How many sessions will I need?

Our three-session option spaces visits about 4–6 weeks apart. Your clinician will recommend the number and timing appropriate to your goals and treatment area.

What do the packages include?

A single session is listed at $400, and a three-session series at $1,050. The $1,300 option adds your choice of a Perfect Derma Peel with a $200 neurotoxin credit or two one-area neurotoxin treatments. Ask us about current terms and availability.

Can PRP or other products be used with microneedling?

These options need an individual discussion. The FDA says microneedling devices are not cleared to deliver drugs, biologics or blood products such as PRP into the skin. Ask your clinician about any separate procedures.

Where is MACA located?
